Faithful+Gould is one of the world’s largest project and cost management consultancies, employing over 2000 staff, with a turnover in excess of £70 million and an expanding office base in the Asia Pacific region, Continental Europe, the UK and USA.

Due to internal promotion, we are currently looking to recruit a new Head of Cost Management in our Southampton Office. This is an incredible opportunity for the right candidate to build on the success of the current team and to take forward a market leading cost management business on the South Coast.


Responsibilities

• Business Planning and Development to grow the existing successful Cost Management team
• Recruitment and retention of quality staff
• Team leader duties, including supervision and performance management
• Bid Management and production
• Full quantity surveying duties
• Provision of pre-contract feasibility and viability advice
• Ensure the highest quality service delivery to clients
• Provide high quality cost advice on major projects and programmes
• Guidance, care and mentoring of staff
• Develop client relationships and support the growth of the Cost Management team and wider Southampton Office, including Key Account Management
• Senior leadership responsibilities within the Southampton Office, including cover for the Head of Office during times of leave, etc.
• Co-ordination with other regional Heads to establish a productive and co-operative Cost Management service throughout the region
• Engendering a collaborative, positive, professional attitude throughout the team and wider industry relationships
Requirements
• BSc in Quantity Surveying and member of a recognised professional body, ideally RICS
• An established industry network
• Proficient with service delivery via frameworks, including an understanding of public sector procurement
• Proficient with operating under JCT and NEC forms of contract
• Experience across a broad range of sectors, ideally including education, defence, residential, pharmaceuticals and commercial property
• Effective and efficient in the preparation of feasibility and pre-contract estimates
• Effective and efficient transition of pre-contract through to post contract advice
• Productive supervision of team members including adequate planning, monitoring and control
• Senior grade client interface responsibility on a key account basis.
• Effective and efficient knowledge of a range of project procurement options
• Ability to work with the minimum of supervision and on own initiative
• Ability to advise clients on key cost drivers, project costs and added value
• Knowledge and understanding of the component parts of a project and overall construction costs
• Experienced in client, consultant & contractor facing roles and working as a member of a busy team. Used to working to tight and ever changing deadlines
