Atkins is looking to appoint a Director for our Water Management Consultancy Practice. The role involves the leadership of a large and well-respected national practice within the Environmental Consultancy business. The practice works for UK and international clients providing advisory, analytics, modelling, assessment and design services in relation to climate futures and resilience, flood risk and integrated catchment management, water resources and water quality planning, hydrology and hydrogeology services, river restoration, coastal and marine environmental management.
As Practice Director you will be responsible the development and delivery of world class Water Management Consultancy services and for the operational performance of the practice including its contribution to our ambitious plans for growth.

Responsibilities:
• Lead a practice group located in offices throughout the UK, respond to client needs with flexibility and at pace.
• Establish the people resources required to meet clients’ requirements, build a flexible workforce through permanent and contingent staff, supply chain and our Global Design Centre.
• Deploy people to develop business and win work, supporting the Market/Client Directors with strategic opportunities and optimising practice-led sales including repeat or follow-on work.
• Deploy people to deliver work of value to clients, ensure robust management of projects to achieve the outcomes expected by Atkins and our clients.
• Create an entrepreneurial and innovative culture, continually develop high value and growth service lines that are differentiated and create competitive advantage.
• Enthuse our people through effective engagement, develop talent and enable career progression, ensure safety and wellbeing. Provide line management to Practice Managers and Lead Technical Authorities.
• Develop practice plans, budgets and forecasts, deliver the operational performance of the practice supporting achievement of our performance and growth targets. Establish the practice as a high performing team.
Requirements:
• Experience in a leadership role in the same (water management consultancy) or comparable practice area.
• Able to create an enterprise culture with experience in the continual development of services through innovation, technology and new business models.
• Collaborative with an effective network spanning clients, business partners and other stakeholders.
• Ability and desire to engage with clients, strong track record of maintaining effective long-term relationships with clients in our key markets.
• Able to build and motivate a team, successful at leading people through change.
• Performance driven, desire to exceed targets and a good track record in exceeding business performance expectations.
• Available to travel across the UK and overseas as required.
Qualifications:
• Degree qualified with professional recognition through chartership or similar.
Role Location:
• Strong preference for candidates to be based from an Atkins’ Hub Office (Birmingham, Bristol, Epsom, Glasgow, London and Warrington)
