Senior Offshore Structural Engineer

Are you a structural engineer with experience of offshore structure design? Are you looking for your next career opportunity in either Oil & Gas or Renewables? This could be the role for you.

The Team

Atkins offshore structural engineering capability dates back to the 1970’s and we have been at the forefront of the discipline ever since. Much of our capability originated in the oil and gas sector, and we are still heavily involved in this area. However, we have successfully transferred many of our skills onto a growing number of fixed and floating offshore renewables projects.

Our offices in Epsom, situated in Surrey, are ideally located within close reach of both central London and the Surrey countryside, and are home to around 70 of our offshore renewable and oil & gas professionals. You will become part of a growing team in the Engineering and Consultancy business with opportunities to work across the whole market from Renewables to Oil & Gas.

The Role

We are looking for structural engineers who have an understanding and experience of structural design and analysis relevant to offshore structures; both fixed platforms and floating designs.

As a senior member of the team, you will assume lead roles in the technical delivery of work packages and be involved in developing the capability of a team of engineers.  You will also present your work to clients through reports and presentations.

You will be comfortable working on and leading a range of structural engineering design and analysis projects, either with local colleagues or working as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team located across different offices. You will deliver high quality technical work, ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards as well as internal best practice procedures and contribute to continual development of the design approach and methodology.

The Person

With excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills, you will be able to build relationships effectively and assist in winning work from new and existing clients.

Comfortable at leading a range of design and analysis tasks, you take personal responsibility in achieving the best from yourself and colleagues to ensure client satisfaction. You are keen to support, mentor and develop the capability of the team. You are comfortable and adaptable to working in new and changing environments. You have good attention to detail and are able to make sound judgements under pressure.

You are driven and motivated to excel in a varied and rewarding career, looking to make the most of the opportunities that Atkins offers as part of the SNC-Lavalin Group.

With excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills, you will be able to build relationships effectively and assist in winning work from new and existing clients.

You have a strong background in offshore structural engineering with the following minimum qualifications:

• Engineering degree, honours or equivalent in civil, mechanical, structural, naval architecture or similar;
• Chartered Engineer with a recognised engineering institution;

You will also have a range of the following desirable experience:
