This will include the baseline procedures and underpinning processes, followed by a roll out and implementation to ensure full and consistent adoption, capturing requirements management, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), interface management and design information management topics.

Our market focuses on supporting the delivery of engineering design for enrichment and fuel manufacture, plant life extension, decommissioning and waste handling projects across their full life cycle including commissioning and operation. We can offer our own products and technology to provide innovative solutions the accelerate the pace of change and provide resource augmentation to support our clients and partners.

We are wanting this capability to complement our existing & well established core engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Civil & Structural, and Electrical, Control & Instrumentation) as well as our growing capabilities (Engineering Management, Technology Solutions, and Robotics).
  • Responsibilities will develop as this new role grows and becomes better defined but will initially be focused on supporting winning work where Systems Engineering is an aspect of the proposal(s), supporting ongoing projects, and helping other discipline engineers understand what Systems Engineering is, how it should be used on projects and best practise for collaborative working.
  • This role will look to establish a new capability in the Nuclear and Power business and as such it comes with the ability to direct and grow the capability & team as is required. This will be done by working with the Head of Engineering and other Capability Leads. • Have a demonstrable understanding of the application of a Systems Engineering approach to design. Experience with key Systems Engineering methodologies (e.g. Holistic requirements model, Pugh matrix, interface management) as well as requirements management, structured verification and the use of requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS.
  • Experience with MBSE tools such as Capella. Experience and awareness of engineering lifecycle. Experience in using Microsoft Azure and DevOps tools. Experience with VS code and/or other coding platforms.
  • You should be enthused by the opportunity to take on the responsibility to establish and grow a Systems Engineering capability within our Engineering group. This opportunity will require working collaboratively with colleagues within the DWS market as well as across the wider AtkinsRéalis business, allowing you to shape and influence methodologies and delivery close to home and wider.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • An innovator – You will encourage people to experiment, produce new ideas and challenge others to think differently. You’ll create space for people to think about potential new innovative approaches, providing an opportunity for growth and potentially help to identify and define a new career path for developing and mature engineers and designers.
  • An Improver - You spend time on making the processes, methods and toolsets more efficient, optimising your resources and adjusting things to be leaner.
  • Fully integrated with counterparts in other parts of the business and active in identifying cross-application of skills, best practice and learning material.
  • Excellent team player, able to collaborate effectively with market colleagues, wider business colleagues and the senior leadership team.
