Senior Wayfinding Consultant

As part of our planned growth for 2018, we are looking for an experienced Wayfinding Consultant with project management experience to join the Atkins Wayfinding team in London, Birmingham or Manchester. The Wayfinding team provides award-winning design services to public and private sector clients across a broad range of environments, including airports, rail stations, cities/towns, galleries, retail areas and office spaces. We are a growing discipline working on high profile and exciting projects such as Crossrail, Legible London and East West Rail. The role will involve leading projects, delivering for clients and proactive business development to help enable further team growth.

The Wayfinding team sits within the Atkins Transport Planning Consultancy Practice comprising over 900 staff delivering planning, technical and advisory consultancy services to a wide-ranging client base in the UK and overseas. We are part of a larger Transportation business of 3,750 talented professionals covering highway, rail and local transport sectors in the UK & Europe.

Our team provides the full range of wayfinding design solutions to clients, including high level scheme strategies, signposting and sign placement strategies, graphic design and product design. Looking at complex projects from every angle, you’ll help our customers to find the best solutions to their wayfinding challenges. As well as working directly with external clients, the role will involve working with wider Atkins infrastructure teams to deliver projects and secure further work.

The Requirements
We are seeking a highly motivated and driven individual who demonstrates the following:
• Commercial acumen and project management experience, managing budgets and programmes to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
• A self-starter, ideally with business development experience, who is willing to take on a leading role in growing our wayfinding discipline through networking and other business development activities. Experience of bid-writing and creating costing proposals preferred.
• Experience of developing a range of wayfinding solutions to meet varying client / project requirements and enthusiasm for innovation.
• Good people management experience through the management of previous projects or roles.
• Strong communication and presentational skills, written and verbal.
• Dynamic, enthusiastic, proactive and passionate about wayfinding.
• Software skills in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.
• Possible openness to involvement or developing experience in wider pedestrian movement or transport planning projects.
