Are you ready to take up a vital role in shaping some of our exciting projects? How about joining our talented team, where everyone has a voice, and together we face our clients' problems head-on. It's a diverse and inclusive work environment where world-class talent knows no distinctions.

We know that different people have different priorities, which is why we're here to support you. Flexible and remote working is a central part of our culture. So, talk to us about what's ideal for you – from reduced weeks to buying more leave over school holidays. And if you're returning from a career break, ask us how we can help you transition back into work with us.

Read more about how you can thrive with us.

To be based in the Epsom or Croydon office you will work with our highly skilled teams developing and maintaining Transport Software including the widely used SATURN highway assignment model software, continuously developed and used for over 30 years, and related products, as well as TAG Software (TUBA, WITA, TEMPro etc, on behalf of the UK Department for Transport). Some of the software is written in the scientific language Fortran and uses acceleration techniques such as multi-threading and GPUs; though this is not a pre-requisite of a new employee, it indicates the breadth of directions into which personal development can take place and we're ready to help you grow.

Your purpose:

  • You will support the development and maintenance of key transport software, working with the team to shape its future and meet the requirements of its users.
  • Making the most of your knowledge and experience, you’ll provide support and leadership of projects where the development and application of strategic modelling tools are required.
  • You will be a confident team worker with ability to work independently engaging in direct liaison with internal and external clients.

What you can bring:

Successful applicants will be flexible, self-motivated and will be expected to demonstrate a capability in any of the following:

  • Strong analytical, numeracy and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and proven success in meeting deadlines.
  • Confident team worker with ability to work independently.
  • Programming/scripting capabilities, for example Fortran (Silver frost, Intel, PGI), Python, C#, C++, VBA, SQL etc.
  • Setting up installers, e.g., WIX, and software authentication.
  • Working in an AZURE DevOps environment, e.g., Visual Studio, TFS.
  • Software licensing
  • Testing frameworks
  • Website hosting
  • Development, application, and documentation of macro modelling techniques using software packages such as SATURN, EMME/2, CUBE and VISUM.
  • Use and application of GIS techniques to transport modelling outputs and analysis.
  • Knowledge of economic evaluation of transport schemes using COBA, TUBA.
  • Experience of working to time and budget constraints.
