The Role

Within our Energy UK & Europe business, the Esbjerg operation is an important part of the link into the Danish offshore sector and clients, and an important part of growth and diversification plans within mainland Europe. The team is currently a multi-discipline team supporting mainly Oil & Gas clients in engineering consultancy and modifications & upgrades, but with intent to grow into other Energy sectors, especially Offshore Wind. The Esbjerg operation also acts as a conduit for specialist work that is carried out by other parts of the Energy business, and draws in resources from this wider business – made of some 1200 people – to execute work locally.

As we make progress with our Energy mission to make a difference by improving lives through safer, cleaner, smarter energy we are seeking a Strategy and Business Development Lead to bring enthusiasm and experience to help grow and develop our business in Esbjerg. The task is to grow the team in terms of; headcount, capability, portfolio of clients, and Energy market sector – including offshore renewables and conventional Power.

Within this role, you will have a focus on winning work, engaging with and bringing in new clients, and growing the capability of the team. You will also have a key part to play in the leadership of the Esbjerg team, and with interacting with the rest of the Energy business in the UK and across the globe. You will play a significant role in developing the stagey and direction for the Esbjerg operation.

Other key responsibilities include the following:

  • Writing and leading competitive tenders.
  • Maintaining an understanding of the local Esbjerg market, and the wider Denmark Energy market.
  • Raising the profile of Atkins Energy locally.
  • Working with Operations Delivery Leads in the UK to grow the team and maintain productivity.

The Person

You will have excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills. You will be passionate about putting the client first and you really care about making a difference to our clients, our people, and our business. Building and developing relationships is a key part of this role, as well as bringing a strong portfolio of relationships with you. You are motivated by working to sales targets, and you get great satisfaction from growing a pipeline from nothing into an established workstream. A natural leader and a motivator, you enjoy getting the best out of a team.

The following is also required;

  • Strong experience of the Esbjerg market, and a track record in developing clients and winning work.
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas sector, with experience in other Energy sectors and additional benefit.
  • Experience in leading and developing teams.
  • Confident and competent working in both Danish and English.
